ABOUT ETOWN MINORS

Talented vocal coaches for each section (Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass) help instruct, mentor, and guide its members through the musical journey regardless of prior singing experience.

Most songs that ETown Minors perform are arranged in house by our ultra talented coaches to take advantage of the choir’s unique vocal styles and musical interests. ETown Minors repertoire has included songs by The Tragically Hip, Amy Winehouse, Linkin Park, Charlie Puth, Twenty One Pilots, and many more. Singers are truly involved in the process from helping to pick their favourite popular music to working with their peers in rehearsals.

ETown Minors differs from the traditional choral format, which normally includes a piano accompanist, instead forming an entirely a cappella choir.  By removing any accompaniment, we train the singers to rely on each other more and to be more independently stable with their tuning. Additionally, by having a vocal coach for each section, the other singers have a voice they can model themselves after instead of just trying to match pitch with a piano. By the end of each season, there is a marked improvement in the skill, tuning, and confidence of our singers. Though we also focus on inclusion, music literacy and vocal health and technique in all of our ensembles, a cappella pop music is our driving artistic principle.

Interested in Joining?

The seasons for our ETown Minors are split into two cycles, with each one culminating in a concert.

At the beginning of each cycle we offer an open rehearsal so new members can try it out before joining, but we also will accept registrations throughout the year.
